Nationwide opening of the “Tag des offenen Denkmals” in Münster on September 10th 2023 at the Prinzipalmarkt
On the podium from left to right: Mayor Markus Lewe, architect Prof. Julia Bolles-Wilson, publisher Wolfgang Hölker
Quote from Julia Bolles-Wilson: “Architecture is a physical experience. A city’s monuments provide its citizens with points of remembrance and orientation. Experiencing it from the inside with all your senses is a new and unusual architectural experience. That’s why “Tag des offenen Denkmals” is so important.
The city of Münster has made three very courageous and very extraordinary decisions in its recent history: one for the reconstruction of the city centre (monument), in whose most beautiful space we are – the Prinzipalmarkt, a second for the construction of the city theatre (monument) and a third for the construction of the city library (not yet monument), which, like the “Tag des offenen Denkmals”, is 30 years old.´
